Some background on Interpret This

Interpret This was conceived and carried out entirely by the 24 students in Film 410. Each student contributed content and collaborative energy according to their own skills and interests. They initiated it in response to one of the 410 group assignment that was guided by the twin motivations of the course: (1) to practice some crucial “real-world” skills including team-based project management and (2) to analyze and contextualize such tools with regard to both their productive functions and their potential formations of 'being together' against the hidden directives of the university and the culture industry. 

With this as the background, I took the class through exercises taken from agile project management, eventually arriving at a point where they had committed to a project focus for the rest of the term.
The project itself uses the "Vine" social media form that facilitates the sharing of 6-second smartphone videos. The simultaneous deep reach and limitation of the platform allow a mix of intimate of performances of the self and versioning or reinterpretation of cultural reference points, often with brilliantly precise comedic timing – all edited "in-camera."
